Working Hours:  Monday – Friday 08.25 – 16.55 with 1 hour for lunch 

Duration: Permanent

As Payroll Assistant you will be responsible for and manage your own set of client’s payrolls.  You will process payroll from start to finish using SAGE payroll.  You will be setting up New starters, Leavers, creating Pension Assessments, buddy checking, RTI files and work directly with Clients to obtain Payroll approval.  You will need to be proficient in and understand Payroll Processing including government legislation such as HMRC, GDPR, Pension regulator and NMW to ensure full compliance.

The Position: 

We’re looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our friendly team. An outline of the job and what it will entail is stated below. 

When assisting the Head of Payroll, the Payroll Assistant will:

  • Manage your own set of client payrolls
  • Process payroll from start to finish using SAGE payroll
  • Set up new starters and leavers
  • Create Pension Assessments
  • Buddy check payrolls
  • Work directly with Clients to obtain Payroll approval 

About you: 

  • Answer telephone in professional manner inc. taking and passing on messages 
  • Interact well with clients and other staff members and ensure a high level of ‘Customer care’ 
  • Work independently but also as part of a team and help others when required 
  • Strong communication and IT skills  
  • Strong mathematical and administrative skills 
  • Can follow instructions and ask for help from others when unsure  
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organisation  
  • 3 years + Payroll inhouse or bureau experience 
  • Full understanding of Payroll Processing including government legislation such as HMRC, GDPR, Pension regulator and NMW to ensure full compliance.
