Here at Dunkley’s, we love celebrating the success stories of our team – those who have worked hard, grown within the business, and made a real impact. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Emily’s journey, from starting as an apprentice to stepping into a leadership role.
Emily’s career with Dunkley’s began in October 2018, shortly after completing her A-Levels. She joined the company as a payroll apprentice, a role that allowed her to complete her Level 3 AAT qualification and begin her Level 4 studies.
In January 2021, during the challenges of the Covid pandemic, Emily transitioned to the accounts team as an Accounts Assistant. In this role, she continued working towards her Level 4 AAT qualification and soon began her ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) studies. Since then, she has been a valued member of the accounts team, focusing primarily on accounts preparation.
Stepping into Leadership
Emily’s hard work and dedication led to her promotion to Sub-Team Leader in September 2023. Initially managing a team of two, her leadership has already seen the team grow to three members. Her promotion was guided and supported by Joe, a Director at Dunkley’s, who has played a key role in mentoring her throughout her career.
Making Memories Beyond the Numbers
Alongside her professional growth, Emily has actively participated in Dunkley’s events and charity work. One standout moment was helping to organise the Dunkley’s Roaring 20s Ball at Bristol Museum in September 2021, held in aid of St. Peter’s Hospice.
Reflecting on Her Journey
When asked about her experience at Dunkley’s, Emily described her time as “flying by as it only seems like yesterday I was a payroll apprentice.” She highlighted the fantastic people and supportive atmosphere as the best aspects of working at the firm.
“What I like most about working at Dunkley’s is the people and the atmosphere. I think we’ve got a really nice family feel! Everyone knows everyone and the whole team are really approachable.” Emily-Jayne Emery, Accounts Sub-Team Leader at Dunkley’s Accountants.
Her proudest career moment to date has been her promotion to Sub-Team Leader, a milestone that reflected the trust and confidence placed in her by the Directors at Dunkley’s.
Emily’s journey is a true testament to her dedication and the opportunities available at Dunkley’s for those eager to learn, grow, and thrive.
