The position

As a key member of the Tax team you will work closely with and support both the Tax Senior Assistant and the Tax Trainees. The main responsibilities of the Tax Assistant are to ensure that client’s personal tax returns are prepared and submitted to HMRC by the deadline date. You will also have dealings with Trust Tax Returns, Trust, CGT Returns, Partnership Registration and Trust Registration.

By supporting the Senior Tax Assistant with tax planning projects, including the Share Restructure Project, and compliance matters, you will have an opportunity to develop your knowledge and contribution to the success of the Tax Team. By overseeing the Tax Trainees you will develop your people management skills and general management knowledge.  You will have the ability to plan and anticipate their workload as well as you own, so the Tax Team continues to deliver a professional service to our client.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Completing personal tax returns.
  • Completing CGT returns (60-day filing).
  • PSA / SDLT Clearance.
  • Self-Assessment Registration.
  • Trust tax returns and annual declarations.
  • Share transfers/reclassification.
  • Incorporation Completion Companies House documents.
  • Tax calculations.
  • Overpayment relief claims.
  • Communicating with clients, ensuring their requests are fulfilled, i.e. SA302/Tax year overview requests, repayment chasing.

 

Key Skills and Experience

  • Have proven experience of client facing activities and supporting juniors within a team.
  • Have demonstrative communications skills both verbal and non-verbal and are able to articulate difficult to understand messages to clients in a way they understand what is being said.
  • Have a meticulous attention to detail and organisational and prioritising skills which not only support you, but which can support the juniors in the team.
  • Strong mathematical and administrative skills.
  • Work independently but also as part of a team and help others when required.
  • Be fully conversant with the Microsoft suite and ideally have knowledge of IRIS and Xero.
  • Be a resilient individual with ambition to continually strive to deliver excellent service to our clients. In addition you will be driven to want to continually learn and develop professionally and be a leader in contributing to the Tax Team and Dunkleys.

 

Qualifications:

  • Hold or be part-qualified / qualified ATT or be prepared to work towards achieving this qualification
  • Have 2 years’ experience working within a Tax role.
